English Camp 2026

Welcome back to school!
As the teachers prepared throughout the week for the upcoming school year, the sounds of laughter, games, and English filled the halls. English Summer Camp 2026 brought together incoming students from the 6th and 7th years to practice and utilize English in a fun-filled environment.
On Monday, students woke up early and gathered in front of our beloved Základní škola Na Ostrově. We exchanged greetings, set our camp rules, and got to know one another through silly questions written on the “question ball.” Questions such as “What food do you hate?” or “Do you like the meme 67?” made the students relax and ease back into using English again. The rest of the day brought on an engaging activity called “This is me!” where students created a self-portrait and wrote a description about themselves on a shared poster. This team effort gave students a chance to connect and express themselves in English.
The following day, we played many recall & guessing games such as “Imposter” and “ Heads up,” and students created a special town tour of Jaroměř. The students were tasked with answering the following questions: “What is the best place in Jaroměř?” and “What information can you find about it?” Students researched key information about each place, such as the history and activities that you can do there, and then prepared a script. The students of the English camp put together a one-of-a-kind tour with stops at the town theater, Turbo Pizza, and the athletic playground. We recommend you go on this tour yourself!
Students had a lot of energy on Wednesday, and they put all of it into learning some classic American line dancing! Students first reviewed English dance vocabulary so that they could become dance masters for the day. Once they conquered the vocabulary, it was time to conquer the steps. Not only were the students English masters, but they were dance professionals! The afternoon exposed the students to American culture while also using English in a practical, authentic way.
On Thursday, our students took on the role of bakers for the morning. Each student brought an important part of a recipe, and together, we combined them to bake American sugar cookies. First, we revised important words in English such as baking verbs, utensils, and dishes. Following our revision, students worked together to create the cookies. The kitchen was full of teamwork, reading comprehension, and the sweet and wonderful smell of sugar cookies. Their brains were full of English, and their stomachs were full of sugar cookies!
To end the camp, students created paper plate awards on Friday. Students pulled a random name and had to think of a superlative or a word that reflected their classmate’s skills, characteristics, or something they did during the week. Students were awarded the following awards: “The most energy”, “Future translator”, “Very beautiful queen”, “Most likely to be a princess”, “The best dancer”, “The best concentration player”, and “The best smile.” We ended the day with a pizza party!
Overall, students walked away with a week full of authentically experiencing the language and an excitement for the upcoming school year.
